The Recreational Vehicle Fellowship of Rotary

Hudson River Valley/Fall Rally

September, 29 to October 3, 2009

Newburgh / New York City North KOA, Plattekill NY

Highlights.

This area is beautiful all year but especially in the autumn when the Shawangunk mountains section of the Catskills burst forth with their fall colors to welcome the RVF. We'll be staying at the KOA Campground in Plattekill just north of Newburgh. The campground features full hook ups with 50 and 30 amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV. We have reserved the Rally site area which will accommodate 20 units along with the use of the "Family Room" facility for inside group get togethers.

Arrival is scheduled for Tuesday 9/29 and departure on Saturday 10/3. Below are a number of photos of the KOA Campground

The proposed optional activities will include;

A guided bus tour to the National Home Site of Franklin D.Roosevelt in Hyde Park, the Vanderbilt Mansion and West Point Military Academy grounds and museum.

Another day will find Rotarians boarding the bus at the campsite for an all day guided bus trip to New York City for tours of The Statue of Liberty, South Street Seaport, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Fifth Ave and much more.

On a free day you may wish to travel 20 minutes across the river to Beacon NY to board the train for the 75 minute, 59 mile ride down the beautiful Hudson River to Grand Central Station in the center of the "Big Apple". There is ample parking at the terminal in Beacon and you can buy your tickets on site at a vending machine which will accept cash or credit cards.

More activities for NYC plus a visit to a neighboring Rotary club are being explored but are premature to report at this time.

Plan now to join us in this memorable event. Mark your calendar and watch for the early registration form to follow. KOA requires reservations by February for us to hold the reserved sites.
