MID-WINTER RALLY REPORT

Howdy!!

To those of you who missed the Mid Winter Rally, WE MISSED YOU!!  And you missed a lot of FUN.

There was abundant food and fellowship.

We donned Smocks, Hair Nets and Safety Glasses for a tour of the Mission Pharmacia plant where they make Citrical and many over the counter and some prescription pills you may be taking.  CAREFUL, ULTRA-SANITARY may be a partial description of their operation.

We put on our jeans and went on a HAYRIDE at the Don Strange Party Ranch.  We got a good look at their facilities and enjoyed their coffee, cookies and veggies.  Some used the carrots from the veggies to feed the Longhorn Steers, Horses, Pigs and a Burro.  FUN FUN FUN

As usual, dominoes were almost continuously clicking ... occasionally we heard the exclamations DOMINO! and 42!  Others exercised their skills at Bridge.  Did Nancy H and friends ever finish their jigsaw puzzle??

There were low calorie breakfasts: biscuits with sausage gravy one morning and on another morning, pancakes (al-la Ann Brieger) with link sausage.  Cereal, donuts and other sweet pastries were there every morning.

The heavy hors d'oeuvres at dinner were great.  Dinner at PoPo's Restaurant on Friday night and a catered meal of King Ranch Chicken from the Dodging Duck Restaurant on Saturday night topped off the evening meals.

Those who didn't gain a few pounds may not be reading their scales correctly.

We prayed for the soul of Kathe Swantner who recently died of a heart attack and for the spiritual comfort of her husband Bob.

There was a cake with candles to celebrate John Miller's 77th birthday.  We recognized the 44th wedding anniversary of Chuck and Carol Ward and the 37th anniversary of Jim and Nancy Hall.

We welcomed Out-of-Zone RVF Rotarians Sam and Barbara Howe from CA; Fred and Carol Royce from WA; Manfried and Nancy Martin from MI.  The Martin's son, Randy and Daughter in Law, Tillie from Austin also joined us and added to the FELLOWSHIP. Manfried and Nancy asked that their names be added to the Central Zone mailing list.  It is done.  Central Zone regulars in attendance were Al & Ann Brieger, Sam & Nancy Golden, Jim & Nancy Hall, Lloyd & Lenorah Hendry, AJ & Pansy Lynch, Tom & Shirley Martin, Earl & Terrilee Maudlin, Byron & Angela Maxwell, John & Jane Miller, Dean & Letty Rucker, Marcus & Barbara Semmelmann, Chuck & Carol Ward and Ralph & Margaret Willard.
